Wednesday June 8 – Thursday June 9

Travel & Lodging

For guests flying to Ohio, choose either the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (a 50-minute drive to the hotel) or the regional Akron-Canton Airport (a 40-minute drive to the hotel). Our team recommends that you fly in on Wednesday morning (6/8) and fly out on Friday morning (6/10). We have organized a rental car rideshare board for those interested in carpooling from the airport, but please note that all guests are responsible for their own flight and rental car arrangements.

The IRG Hub has reserved individual hotel rooms and parking for each registered guest at the Kent State University Hotel and Conference Center for Wednesday (6/8) and Thursday (6/9) nights.

The convening will begin at 7pm on Wednesday June 8th with a group dinner at The Battleground Social Justice Taproom and Mexican Kitchen in Kent OH, followed by a day of strategizing on Thursday, June 9th, and concluding with a DYV Si Se Puede Lager beer release party that evening.

Click here for an overview of the day's agenda. A detailed version will be provided in your welcome bag at the hotel.

IRG Hub produced a handful of case studies regarding independent resource generation that you are encouraged (but not required) to review prior to this strategy session. They are available below.

We appreciate your diligence in helping to stop the spread COVID while attending the IRG Strategy Session. All guests must be vaccinated to attend.

Guests should test themselves before travel, and will be provided with a rapid test at the hotel for use on the morning of Thursday 6/9. Negative tests are required for participation in Thursday's daylong meeting (complete details will be provided at the event).

Given that all guests will have tested negative prior to Thursday's meeting, mask use is not required. Hand sanitizer will be provided for each guest. Please stay home if you are sick or experiencing symptoms.

While we are taking all necessary precautions, it remain important to monitor your health as you return home from travel. If you test positive for COVID within five days of travel, please contact Heather Calhoun at

We encourage guests to travel together to the Battleground Taproom, either walking or by car. Parking is available but limited.
